Aha! I found it...a road race etiquette guide!

After sounding off about my road racing frustrations in the last blog post, I decided to see if there was any such "etiquette guide" out there. Lo and behold, I found several. I think that this one from About.com is probably the best. Check it out.

Here's a sampling of the tips (which are explained in greater depth in the actual article):

1. Pay for your spot. (Don't be a bandit!!)
2. Line up properly.
3. Don't jingle.
4. Don't take up the whole road.
5. Show appreciation to volunteers.
6. Thank supporters, too.
7. Be careful at water stations.
8. Keep moving at the finish.
9. Don't be a glutton.
